Description: |
Terrestrial herb, 35-85 cm tall. Pseudobulbs often partly above ground, conical, up to 40 × 17 mm, forming chains. Leaves 3-5, the lowermost sheathing, ovate-elliptic, up to 14 × 5.5 cm, bright green, plicate' appearing just at the time of flowering. Inflorescence laxly up to 20-flowered. Sepals greenish to purple-brown, spreading, often somewhat twisted. Petals yellow, heavily veined purple-red, up to 10 × 10 mm, almost round, pointing forward, overlying the column. Lip 9-16 mm long, 3-lobed, yellow, hevily veined purple-red; side lobes erect; mid-lobe bent down at a right angle and the tip turned up. Spur more or less absent but the base of the lip saccate with a transverse, lacerate flap. |
