Shallow-roted herb to 1.3m. Leaves sheathing like Iris; base of leaves swollen, curved forwards. Flowers scattered up flowering shoots, open, non-tubular, bright blue. Ovary swollen. Very local.

Scrambling herb; stems woody, phyllodes quite prickly. No flowers/fruits.

Tufted fern to 20 cm on forest floor.

Sub-canopy tree to 6 m. Leaves clustered terminally, with winged rachis. Fruit large, green, axillary, splitting open later.

Epiphytic orchid on Englerophytum tree branch, with long thick aerial roots. Narrow linear leaves. Some fruit capsules.

Shrub or small tree to 2 m. Leaves dark green, alternate. Flowers underneath, axillary, clustered, white with maroon upper wing. Rare in Guibourtia - Pteleopsis dry forest, possibly on edge of termite mound.

Buttressed tree to 25 m, partly fallen. Shallow root plate. Bark lenticelled, foetid smell when cut. Leaves asymmetric at base. Fruits small, round, stalked.

Shrub to 2 m high, on top of rocky outcrop. Moist forest. Some old flowers. Red fruits small leaved. Local, only ones [sic] seen.

Grass to 40cm,tufted, hard to dig out. Inflorescence very narrow, purple-tinged, anthers hanging out. When seeding, glumes opening widely, very hairy, whitish.

Tree to 4 m. Long spicate axillary inflorescence, greenish-white with yellow anthers. Many ants farming scale insects.

Large buttressed tree to 30 m. Bark smooth, pale yellow-green, no lenticels. Branch breakages rounded; some epicormic shoots, hollow (collected). Slash thin, no speckles, pale yellow-green, slightly sticky; no smell to slightly fresh smell. Leaves large, very rough/sandpapery to touch, ?equal at base, light yellow-green; larger/broader than those of C. gomphophylla.

Large spreading tree to 15 m; bole straight, branched high, loaded with epiphytes (Rhipsalis, orchids). Bark dark brown, smooth, slightly shiny in places. Leaves large, clustered terminanlly, not hairy.

Epiphyte. Strangler fig in Xylopia tree. Roots growing down trunk. Leaves young.

Small tree to 4 m. Large leaves. Axillary fruits with long sepals.

Shrub to 2 m. Glossy unequal leaves. Flowers in axillary inflorescence, small, white.

Slightly succulent herb. White fleshy roots. Leaves mostly basal, often reddish. Flowers in a terminal head, pale purple.

Evergreen fleshy shrub to 2 m. Leaves large, with large enclosing stipules. Fruits axillary, shaped like figs.

Canopy tree to 18 m, dbh 33.0 cm, or shrub to 1 m. Bark smooth, grey, flaking in sections.

Woody herb to 1.5 m. Flowers in terminal racemes, small, pale yellow. Pods small, stick to clothes. Seeds collected.

Creeping epiphytic or epilithic orchid with pseudobulbs. Leaves strongly purplish.

Succulent herb, no leaves. Fruits small, green.

Shrub to 2m. Leaves light green. Inflorescences clustered, terminal and axillary, flowers white with long extruding stigmas.

BR specimen Bulbous herb to 30cm. Bulb covered in fibres, yellowish when cut open; roots fleshy. Basal leaves semi-succulent. Dense terminal raceme of white (blue-tinged) flowers; flowers very open, on-tubular; anthers dark grey-blue. Pollinated by bees.

Canopy tree to 25 m, dbh 49 cm. Trunk straight with narrow buttresses. Bark purple-brown, with lenticels. Leaves glossy, with drip-tip. Milky latex. Vern. name: Mdunduwe

Climbing, trailing slender herb. Flowers small, white; easily falling.
